Comments : A fine Japanese Satsuma or Kutani okimono, dating from the Meiji period. The figurine features two young boys, holding a basket or hat, in a jovial game between the two. The hat seems to have a moulding inside to hold a candle or something similar.
The okimono is beautifully decorated in an array of exotic patterning, including geometric designs, floral motifs and even a school of ornately painted koi fish. The decoration is applied using a variety of coloured enamels, which have then been detailed finely with gold. We will endeavour to respond to your enquiry within 24 working hours.
