The opposite side of the vase features four monks/Imperial courtiers joyfully playing a game of Shogi in an outdoor loggia with gilded balustrade and draped curtain. The scenes are interspersed with geometrical and floral decorations, all done in golds, reds, and gray/silver. The bottom of the piece has a faint maker's mark. Vase presents beautifully and is in very good antique condition, with minor display wear and patina commensurate with age.
There is light surface crazing and minor loss to gilding. Please review all photos before purchasing. This exquisite vase will make a wonderful addition to any fine Japanese porcelain and pottery collection... Dimensions: 11-3/4" in height, 5" in diameter.
