THIS GORGEOUS VASE IS HAND PAINTED WITH POLYCHROME ENAMELS AND GOLD AND IS DECORATED WITH FINE INTRICATE DETAILS FEATURING COLORFUL FLOWERS, HANGING WESTERIA, WATER AND BIRDS ALL WITH GILDED OVERLAY. GILDED UPPER RIM AND BANDED BASE. MEASURES 6" HIGH, THE TOP DIAMETER IS 1 3"4, THE MAXIMUM WIDTH 3 1/2" AND THE BASE IS 2 1/4" IN DIAMETER.
THE CONDITION IS VERY GOOD AND THE ENAMELING IS IN EXCELLENT CONDITION. THERE IS AN IMPERFECTION ON THE UPPER RIM UNDER THE GILDING AND A COUPLE OF TINY NICKS ON THE BOTTOM EDGE OF THE BASE (SEE PHOTOS). NO OTHER CHIPS, CRACKS OR REPAIRS. MARKED ON BASE "SIKO CHINA, HAND PAINTED".
SATSUMA IS A YELLOWISH EARTHENWARE USUALLY DECORATED WITH DETAILED JAPANESE FIGURES WITH EXPRESSIVE FACIAL FEATURES.
