A pair of large earthenware plates. Attributed to the Hankinzan studios. 1868 - 1912, late 19th century. Each piece decorated with a detailed scene depicting figures in opposing lakeside landscapes, surrounded by flowers and birds. A tapering border cascades around the perimeter, filled with geometric patterning.
The work applied in a multitude of bright, coloured enamels and heavily detailed with gold. A number of similar works can be found online with Hankinzan signatures to the reverse. Some wear to the gilding on each.
